About EyePlastics

Our Mission

EyePlastics is a patient education and physician directory resource dedicated to oculoplastic surgery — a surgical subspecialty combining ophthalmology and plastic surgery that focuses on the eyelids, orbit (eye socket), lacrimal (tear drainage) system, and surrounding facial structures.

Our goal is to help patients understand their conditions, find qualified surgeons, and make informed decisions about their care.

What Is Oculoplastic Surgery?

Oculoplastic surgery is a subspecialty of ophthalmology that addresses conditions affecting the eyelids, orbit, tear drainage system, and adjacent facial areas. Oculoplastic surgeons are ophthalmologists who have completed additional fellowship training — typically through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) — in plastic and reconstructive surgical techniques.

Common conditions treated by oculoplastic surgeons include:

  • Blepharoplasty — surgical correction of excess eyelid skin and fat
  • Ptosis — repair of drooping upper eyelids
  • Thyroid Eye Disease — orbital decompression and eyelid retraction repair
  • Orbital Tumors — removal of benign and malignant orbital lesions
  • Lacrimal Disorders — treatment of blocked or infected tear drainage systems
  • Eyelid Trauma — reconstruction after injury or laceration
  • Anophthalmos — socket reconstruction and prosthetic eye fitting

ASOPRS Fellowship Training

The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) is the premier professional society for oculoplastic surgeons. Fellowship-trained ASOPRS members complete a rigorous two-year program after their ophthalmology residency, gaining expertise in reconstructive, cosmetic, and functional surgery of the periocular area.

All surgeons listed in our directory have completed ASOPRS or equivalent fellowship training.

Our Directory

The EyePlastics directory currently features board-certified oculoplastic surgeons in the southeastern United States, with plans to expand nationally. Each listed physician maintains an active practice and has completed fellowship-level training in oculoplastic surgery.

If you are a board-certified oculoplastic surgeon and would like to be listed, please contact us.

Editorial Standards & Medical Review

EyePlastics’ educational content is written and clinically reviewed by the EyePlastics Medical Editorial Board — ASOPRS fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeons. Our aim is patient education that is accurate, current, and genuinely useful.

  • Expert review. Every condition and procedure page is reviewed by an oculoplastic surgeon for clinical accuracy.
  • Evidence-based. Content reflects current oculoplastic practice and ASOPRS standards; clinical figures — measurements, diagnostic criteria, and treatment regimens — are checked against a maintained set of canonical clinical references.
  • Kept current. Each page carries a “Last updated” date, and the library is re-reviewed on a recurring basis (most recently June 2026).
  • Educational, not a substitute for care. This information is for education only and does not replace evaluation by a qualified physician. Always consult an oculoplastic surgeon about your specific situation.
